Listening First, Then Leading

Good financial leadership starts with listening. Before decisions are made about debt, investment, or long-term obligations, it’s essential to understand how those choices affect communities differently across Nevada.

I’m spending this period listening to people across rural and urban communities — educators, local leaders, families, and small business owners — to better understand where financial decisions work well and where they unintentionally create strain. These conversations strengthen judgment, surface risks that don’t always appear in spreadsheets, and help ensure state decisions reflect real conditions on the ground.

Listening first leads to more responsible leadership. It ensures financial decisions are informed by lived experience as well as data, resilient to political pressure, and built to hold up over time.
